African Resources (SL) Ltd is a junior gold explorer that is currently developing its gold exploration asset in the Tambakha chiefdom, located in the North-West of Sierra Leone near the border with the Republic of Guinea. The current exploration programme is focused mainly on mapping of alluvial workings, stream sediment and grab sampling near the artisinal mining activity with is concentrated along narrow, immature, mostly first order streams draining the oxide cappings that characterise the largely lateritized greenstone belt. Gold is found in the form of nuggets, flakes and grains in underlying gravel layers in the surrounding swamps. Like AMR Golds assets to the South, the source of gold is considered to be the greenstones of the Archaean aged Loko Hills group. The Loko Hills group is a metamorphosed volcano-sedimentary package comprising mainly amphibolite, quartzite, ironstone and lenses of mafic to ultramafic rocks. Within the prospect, this sequence is represented by a largely weathered NW trending, steep-sided body marked by flat-topped hills rising over 200m in Fintonia-Yana area.
